1. Select the Settings icon in your phone
2. Select WiFi from the Settings menu
3. Turn Wi-Fi on
4. From the list of available networks choose BTWiFi
5. You are connected to the network!

Login to a Hotspot

Connecting to a hotspot is easy, once you've set up your device to connect to BT Wi-Fi and whenever you're in range, follow these steps:

Open your web browser - a BT Wi-Fi login page will appear. If it doesn't, refresh the page or type 'www.btwifi.com'

Select login to wi-fi now.
(Or you can buy access from £4.00)

Enter your BT ID and password.

You are online!

To end your session on the internet

Click on the log out from BT Wi-Fi button link to disconnect.

Note: if you accidentally lose the web browser window confirming your connection, type: https://www.btwifi.com:8443

Important note about logging out

You must log out correctly, otherwise your account will stay open and you may have to pay charges for a further 15 minutes. Your account automatically shuts down due to inactivity after 15 minutes.

If your account 'locks', call Freefone 0800 022 33 22* or +44 132 556 0841 from outside the UK**)at any time to unlock it.

Click the wireless icon at the top right of the screen and select BTWi-fi or _BTWi-fi from the drop-down menu.

A BT Wi-Fi window will appear. If it doesn't, type 'www.btwifi.com' into your browser's address bar.

If you're a BT Broadband customer, login with your BT ID and password

A new web browser window will open confirming you're connected. Minimise, rather than close, the web browser window - now you're ready to browse the internet.

Launch your virtual private network (VPN) now, if you're using one, and login - once connected to your VPN, you'll have internet access.

To end your session on the internet

Exit any VPN first.

Maximise the web browser window that's showing you're connected to BT Wi-Fi.

Click on the logout button to disconnect.

Note: if you accidentally lose the web browser window confirming your connection, type: https://www.btwifi.com:8443

Important

If you're using Windows XP (SP2) or Windows Vista and view wireless connection status, you'll see BT Wi-fi described as an 'Unsecured wireless network' or similar. Windows XP (SP2) and Windows Vista describe most public access wireless networks in this way. Please ignore this. BT Wi-fi uses sophisticated 128-bit public key encryption during login to protect transfer of your data. Account traffic is encrypted and your account is password protected.
